The Beidaihe District, as one of the four administrative districts of Qinhuangdao City, is like a brilliant pearl embedded in the central part of the northern coast of Bohai Bay. Covering an area of 112.45 square kilometers with a coastline stretching 23 kilometers, it has a registered population of 99,000 and a permanent population of 118,000. It administers three towns (Haibin Town, Daihe Town, Niutouya Town), two street offices (Dongshan Street Office, Xishan Street Office), and a provincial-level economic development zone (Beidaihe Economic Development Zone). Beidaihe is the birthplace of Chinese tourism and was designated as a “summer resort for both Chinese and foreign residents” by Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty in 1898. Beidaihe boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, with the Qin Shihuang Palace ruins and 20 modern villas listed as national key cultural relics protection units.
